So Terry Semel is out and Jerry Yang is in…but does that really change anything…
More importantly, do you feel that Yahoo is a good mid-term or long term stock? I’m trying to see how the Internet companies roadmap would look five years down the line, and even ambitiously trying to foresee what it could be 10 years later (I know it is foolhardy to do that, but what the heck, let me try!)…it is not however easy…would Google really be such a big force 10 years later? Will there be a Zoozle which will overtake Google and the rest? What about Microsoft? And where will all these leave the original industry darling, Yahoo?
Yahoo is sure to start refocusing on technology, but is it too late? Leadership in the search domain is gone, at least for the next 3-4 years…perhaps communities, perhaps Web 3.0, whatever it could mean…perhaps personalized communication…whew, boy it is tough…Yahoo has practically every web asset in its portfolio and it is a leader in precisely nothing (maybe mail to a certain extent and in Y! answers…)…What will Yahoo look like 5 years later? And where do you think Y!’s stock will be?

That's great, but will it convert any better? Unlikely...
Improve the core of it, the search and maybe then it will.
Man I'd hate to work at a large company that thinks this way. Everything moves at a snails pace and the left hand doesn't have a clue what the right hands doing.
I don't see great improvement in yahoo's stock price either way.... |
